I'm {inspired} by Unity

I love Unity stamps and I'm sure you do, too if you are visiting me for Friends with Flair!!!! I also love the challenge they have each month. As I mentioned last Friday, I spent a weekend with some scrappin' buddies recently and got 20 pages done. Some of these were 1 page layouts and others were 2 page layouts. One of the pages in this 2 page layout is based off of Unity's layout sketch this month and the color palette. I don't often play the layout sketch challenge, so I am glad I got the chance! I used one of Joslyn Nielson's wit & wisdom stamps on my tag. I think I might own all of the wit & wisdom stamps....they are so cool!!! This one is called Santas, stockings, candy canes, etc. It fit perfectly with my Brunch With Santa title. My daughter was only 1 1/2 here and she was not keen on sitting on Santa's lap. She seems interested this year, though, as she has mentioned it several times. We will see.......

Here is the page I made for the challenge.

The page that goes with it

to make this layout.

Here is a closeup of the tag.

Have a great weekend and check out more great Unity projects here.

It's Unity Friday

Hi everyone! Last weekend I was able to spend some time with my scrappin' buddies and got 20 pages done! I think that is more than I have done in the past 3 years since my little girl was born. I'll have to share some of the pages later. With some of the extra scraps of paper, I made a few cards to share with you tonight/this weekend. They are both sympathy cards and use the same Unity sentiment. "Thinking of you....In your time of need."

Have a great weekend!!!

Friends with Flair is Toadilly Cool

Here is a quick card that I made my son's friend. It was a "Mom....I need a birthday card." ten minutes before we had to go situation. Luckily all of my craft supplies were close by. I had my son choose a stamp and tell me a color (orange). With that I got to work and quickly whipped this up. Not my favorite card, but it was ok, and not my favorite photo....usua;;y I take much clearer ones. Sorry!

Have a great weekend! Go to the Unity blog to check out fabulous projects and the sales.

Back again with Unity FWF

Hi everyone! Hope you are doing well! I have a couple of cards to share with you tonight. The first one was made for Unity's sketch challenge, but I guess I missed the linky date. OOPS! I thought there was another week. :) I used One of a Kind Winter. Love this cute lil snowman! I really do not wish for snow, yet.....but the sentiment goes well with him :)

The second one I made with last week's SOTW.

Have a great weekend!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #216 and FWF

Hello there! Hope you had a great weekend last weekend! We had beautiful weather and spent some time outside at a high school football game, touring the Mississippi River Museum, and picking grapes for wine. It is going to get cold soon so we need to take advantage of these great Wisconsin Fall days. This week has been super crazy as it is HOMECOMING week and I work in a high school. Just got done with the parade :)
This week, I made a card for a friend at work who is celebrating her birthday. Her favorite color is yellow, so I used that to help choose my papers. I used the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

This is the first time I have participated there and I really like the sketch this week! I can't wait to see the next one. Thanks for checking out my card. I hope you have a great weekend! Looks like it is going to be another super one here. Check out other lovelies at the Unity Blog.

A little washi, a little FWF, and a little challenge

Hi all! A quick post from me tonight. I was inspired by a card made for one of Unity's Thursday blog hops recently. I love washi and have so much of it now. I used it on both of my cards and need to keep it up. Such pretty card can be made fairly simply. Place some pretty washi and stamp a sentiment or vice versa.

My second card is also being entered for Unity's color challenge. Won't you play along?

Have a great weekend!

Map It with Catered Crop Unity Style

Good Saturday to all! I have a project that I want to share with the Catered Crop Recipe Swap. I found some new challenges in the past couple of weeks that I wasnt to try and this is one of them. Tonight's card is for their Map It challenge.

I used Unity's Here for You and Wheely Fun itty bitties. I also used some Nikki Silvis and Cosmo Cricket papers that I have had in my stash for awhile. I thought the little cars driving aroung the U.S.A and the little vehicles driving across the paper were so cute! I hope you like them, too!

Something new

Hello everyone! I bought the Unity stamp YOU are FILLED by Stephanie Ackerman recently and knew that I wanted to do something special with it. I decided to make a canvas for my daughter to hang in her bedroom. She is really in to pink right now, so I used that as my guide. I was able to play with my new gelatos, too. I used a tutorial by Jill Foster on YouTube as my guide for this project as I have only created a canvas once before. (A melted crayon piece that I did with my son.) This was fun for me , as I usually make cards. I only have a few days left before school starts, so I am trying some new things with the new products I have.

For my project, I used pink and white tissue paper, white paint, red and pink gelatos, matte Mod Podge, Unity stamps and some crinkle ribbon I made out of Hug Snug seam binding. I also used some Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Apple and Moss, paper from My Mind's Eye, stickles, and Memento ink. I suppose I should also admit that I ripped a couple of pages out of an old dictionary for the words love and daughter. *gasp* :)

I am working on another project right now as well that will use my gelatos. I hope to have it posted in the next couple of days. I am using canvas as the cover to a handmade scrapbook/art journal.

An itty bitty card a day, FWF, and a sketch challenge...

Hello! If you have been following along with/participating in Unity {show and tell} itty bitty a day challenge on Facebook, you have probably seen these cards. I am going to share all five cards with you today in this post. You can check out the Unity {show and tell} page here. Just request to join and you can share there, too. :)

Using Happy as you Choose

Using SOTW Real Shared Happiness

Using SOTW Each Moment is Success

Using SOTW Hooray it's Your Birthday

Using ROLY POLY Winter Joy, this card is also being entered into this month's card sketch challenge. I love snowmen and this little guy is sooooo cute. I'm so excited because there are new snowmen on the Unity site this weekend. I think I might have to get ALL of them. Which is your fave? I would have to say Mike....tee hee.

It has been a fun week and I am glad that I was able to get one done for each day. My crafting time frame hasn't changed I've noticed. I can plan and plan and plan to craft during the day, but all I end up doing is thinking about crafting or putzing....I must craft at night when everyone else is in bed. I find it very interesting. I can carve out time during the day....but it does not work for me :) When do you craft?

You can see more Unity stamp creations at the Unity Blog where many people participate in Friends with Flair. Thanks for stopping by! Have a GREAT weekend!

Unity {be inspired} by colors

My second post today shares my entry for the Unity {be inspired}challenge. I am entering this one based on the colors for this month. I really liked these colors. I used some of my favorite images....butterflies.

Have a great day!!

A long time coming.....

I can't believe it has been so long since I blogged. Well actually if I really think about it, it makes perfect sense. I have been to Costa Rica on an exchange trip and back since my last post. I have been spending quality time with my family for the past few weeks. I was away from them for 2 weeks. I had a good time, traveled with great high school kids, visited beautiful lush, tropical places, ate fabulous food, and spent time with friends, but I missed my family! We have been catching up and just enjoying some activities together.

In the past week, I have been catching up on a little bit of crafting. Hopefully I will get some more time in before school starts in a couple of weeks. This card uses Unity stamps of course and is one of the cards that I entered for the itty bitty challenge this week on Unity's Show and Tell Facebook page. I am also entering it for the Unity {be inspired} challenge. This one uses the card sketch.

Choose to be happy today! Have a great one!!

Growing in Unity Day 5

Wow! This week has gone fast! I have had a lot of fun sharing my projects with you and appreciate all of your comments. Thank you for visiting me!! I will choose a winner from all of the comments on Sunday evening after 5:30 p.m. If you haven't commented on my other posts this week, you still have time. I will choose one winner from all of the comments to choose 2 itty bittys. Today, I made something I have wanted to try for quite some time. They are very easy to make and are super cute (or elegant or cool) :) They would make great gifts and are not very expensive. DIY stamped coasters.

For this project, I used tiles, Stazon Ink, Stamps, felt pads, and Acrylic Sealer. I stamped the images on the tiles and let them dry in the sun for a few hours. I then sprayed three coats of acrylic sealer on the tiles waiting 10 minutes or so between each coat. On the bottom of the coasters you can put felt pieces or cork pieces to keep them from damaging tables.

Another project I did today was a calm down jar.

I used an old peanut butter container. I heated some water, added about 1/3 bottle of Elmer's purple glitter glue, some extra glitter. I stirred all of this up adding a couple of Tablespoons clear Elmer's school glue. I had my daughter decorate some stamped images on Shrinky Dink plastic (which my oven does not like - maybe because it is a gas oven?) which I finally used a heat gun on.

They were then placed in the calm down jar with the glitter. What is a calm down jar? When your child is upset, screaming, grumpy, NEEDS to calm down, you give him/her the jar and have him/her shake it up. Your child should watch the glitter quietly until the glitter settles at the bottom of the jar. I haven't tried hers, yet. I hope she likes it better than a regular timeout. I think I may have to use it , too at times.

Today is Friday and Friends with Flair at the Unity Blog. I hope you will take the time to look at projects by all of the great Unity stampers. There are always such great projects. Thanks again for stopping by and have a great weekend!
